Richard followed his father’s profession, and in Henry IV’s reign is found acting as an attorney at the Exeter assizes. In 1412, two years after his only return to Parliament for Exeter (which surely may be attributed in part to Thomas’s influence as recorder of the city), he received a ‘pension’ of £2 from the citizens, and along with his father he was entertained at a dinner given in the mayor’s house.
