Matthew Chitty St. Quintin was brought in at Old Sarum by Thomas Pitt at a by-election in 1728, after standing unsuccessfully for his uncle’s former seat at Hull in 1727. In Parliament he voted for the Administration in all recorded divisions. Defeated at St. Mawes in 1734, he did not stand again. He died 8 May 1783.
