SIBTHORP, Coningsby (1706-79), of Canwick Hall, Lincs.

In 1727 Sibthorp inherited Canwick Hall, one mile from Lincoln, for which he was returned as a Tory in 1734, voting against the Administration except on the motion for the removal of Walpole in February 1741. He lost his seat in that year, but recovered it in 1747, with the support of Lord Scarbrough (Thomas Lumley). He died 20 July 1779.
