Trelawny was descended from Sir Jonathan Trelawny, M.P., of Trelawne (d.1604), who left Coldrenick to his second son, Edward. Unsuccessful for Callington and Truro in 1722, he was defeated at Lostwithiel in January 1727, but was returned for it by the Administration at the ensuing general election, dying shortly afterwards, 14 Oct. 1727, on his way to Lisbon by way of Falmouth for the recovery of his health.
