Trotman belonged to an ancient Gloucestershire family. His father purchased Siston Court not far from Bath in 1651, settling it on him, with the manors of Shelswell and Newton Purcell in Oxfordshire, on his marriage in 1677.PCC 12 Cann; Glos. N and Q., v. 334. He represented Bath as a Tory for thirteen years, voting against the septennial bill in 1716, but was absent from the other recorded divisions of that Parliament. He died 6 Feb. 1720.
