Wentworth belonged to a junior branch of the Wentworth Woodhouse family, who had been seated at Woolley since the end of the sixteenth century. Returned for York as a Tory after a contest in 1741, he voted against the Government, for which he was thanked by the corporation in February 1742.Gent. Mag. 1742, p. 96. He did not stand again, and died 18 Jan. 1789.
