The Public Ledger wrote about Luttrell in 1779: ‘Appears to be an independent country gentleman, and votes sometimes one way, and sometimes another.’ By 1780 he voted as a rule with Opposition: on Dunning’s motion alone, 6 Apr. 1780, he voted with Government. He was absent from all the crucial divisions preceding the fall of the North Government, and Robinson in his survey of 8 Mar. 1782 noted about him ‘will not attend’.
He died 16 Feb. 1816.
