Manners was returned at Great Bedwyn on the interest of Lord Ailesbury, and at the expense of Administration. In George Rose’s secret service accounts at Windsor appears the entry: ‘Col. Manners, Bedwyn, to be paid to Mr. Steele, £2500.’ In 1789 he was considered as a candidate for Cambridgeshire on the death of Sir Henry Peyton.
He died 9 June 1823.
