On the death of his uncle Clement in 1815, Tudway was sole heir to his estate in Somerset and Parham Hill, Antigua;V. L. Oliver, Antigua, iii. 146. he also succeeded to his seat in Parliament, the third generation of the family to represent Wells. The only evidence of his attendance in the House is that, as ‘Clement Tudway’, he appeared in the minority on the choice of a new Speaker, 2 June 1817. Having disposed of the Antigua estate on his son’s coming of age (1829),Ibid. 152. It consisted of 1,096 acres and 600 slaves. he retired in 1830 and died 28 June 1835.
