at his second marriage, in 1647, his fa. settled on him manor and advowson of Oldborough, Worcs.; capital messuage of Burgh Hall, Gnosnall, manor of Cowley and lands in Coton, Staffs.; manor, rectory impropriate and advowson of Preston Capes, manor of Badby and lands in Charlton and Fawsley, Northants.; and lands in Chetwode, Bucks. – in all, worth £1,000 p.a. Knightley’s estate in 1647 included lands in Great Vaynor, Nantmel, Rad.Cheshire RO, DAR/F/17. In 1650, he purchased, for £1,796, manor of Pyrton, Oxon., from the trustees for the sale of church lands.C54/3559/24. In his will, proved in 1651, Knightley’s fa. charged his estate – which Knightley inherited – with legacies worth approximately £5,000 and annuities of £550.PROB11/215, ff. 42v-43. After his d.
