biography text
Apart from his appearance in the parliamentary return for Dorset, Syde has only been traced in the records once. While the first session of the Parliament of February 1449 was in progress at Westminster he joined a fellow Member of the Commons, Sampson Brown* (then representing Shaftesbury), as co-plaintiff in a final concord relating to the manor of Ferne by Berwick St. John in Wiltshire. They put into effect an entail on the heiress Joan, wife of Edmund Martyn, and her descendants.
