A little more may be added to the earlier biography.
It is not known what prompted Stonor to seek the royal pardon he received just months after coming of age and receiving formal livery of his inheritance.
In 1424 or earlier, Stonor clashed with ‘Cassy’ in an obscure legal dispute, perhaps relating to a benefice in the diocese of Worcester. His opponent is unidentified: given the dating, it is unlikely that he was John Cassy*.
