SCOTT, William II

While it is possible that Scott was descended from William Scott of Huntngdon who made his will in 1340, there is no evidence that he ever held office in the borough. Hunts. Archs., Huntingdon bor. recs., H/1 (copy of will of William Scott of Huntingdon). HP Biogs. ed. Wedgwood and Holt, 752, makes the unlikely assumption that Scott also sat for Rochester (in 1455) and that he was the younger brother of Sir John Scott†. Other than that of 1450, he does not feature in any of Huntingdon’s extant election returns, although it is possible that he was related to Robert and John Scott, who respectively attested the Huntingdon elections to the Parliaments of 1427 and February 1449. There is no evidence that Robert and John (or, indeed, the MP) were related to Robert Scott*.
