Fawkes was a candidate for Parliament only once, being returned for Knaresborough in March 1714 at a by-election necessitated by the death of Christopher Stockdale. Any time which Fawkes may have spent at the House was cut short by his procuring leave of absence on 3 June. He was classed as a Tory in the Worsley list. He died on 11 Nov. 1747, and was buried at Otley, Yorkshire. Ibid. 207.
