Peirse inherited estates from his grandfather, and also succeeded his great-uncle John Peirse at Bedale. He had one of the chief interests in Northallerton, owning 27 burgages in 1702 and making further purchases after 1722 to give him a controlling interest. Returned in 1713 shortly after he had come of age, he was classed as a Whig in the Worsley list. He was not an active Member. Under the first two Georges he sat as a Whig and a government supporter.
