John George Philipps succeeded to his father’s influence in Carmarthen. In Parliament he was a follower of Fox. No speeches by him are recorded 1784-90
On 28 Mar. 1787, in response to requests from the mayor, sheriffs, and the dissenting minister of Carmarthen, he voted for the repeal of the Test and Corporation Acts.
He died in June 1816.
