As a young man Seymour Conway saw service during the American war. ‘He is delighted with having tapped his warfare with the siege of Gibraltar’, wrote Horace Walpole to General Conway on 3 June 1781, ‘and burns to stride to America.’ Returned to Parliament for the family borough of Orford, his only vote before 1790 was against Pitt’s Regency proposals, 11 Feb. 1789; nor is he known to have spoken in the House during his first Parliament.
He died 10 Mar. 1848.
