TALBOT, Hon. John (c.1712-56), of Lincoln’s Inn.

Talbot was a regular Government supporter. After 1747 his position at Brecon was no longer secure. In Newcastle’s election papers is a note of 15 Mar. 1754: ‘Mr. Legge has acquainted the Duke of Newcastle that as Mr. Talbot cannot come in where [he] is now chosen, he is desirous to represent some other borough.’Add. 32999, ff. 34-35. For his election at Ilchester he received £1,000 from secret service funds towards a total expense of £2,000. He died 23 Sept. 1756.
