TALBOT, Sharington (1656-85), of Lacock Abbey, Wilts.

Like his father, Talbot joined the army and served in Flanders in 1678. He was nominated to the corporation of Chippenham under the new charter, and elected to James II’s Parliament a few weeks later, but left no trace on the Journals. As an officer of the hopelessly unmilitary Wiltshire militia he ‘behaved himself very handsomely’ at Sedgemoor; but after the battle he was killed in a quarrel with another militia officer, one Captain Love, over whose soldiers had done best.
