Returned as a Tory for Exeter on the family interest, Bampfylde was absent for the divisions on the septennial and peerage bills but voted against the Government on the repeal of the Occasional Conformity and Schism Acts. Like his brother, he accepted £1,000 South Sea stock at 275 on 22 Mar. 1720 without paying for it.
