Grenville (pronounced and often spelt ’Greenville’), married the favourite sister of Sir Richard Temple, afterwards Lord Cobham, whose peerage was entailed on her and her sons. At George I’s accession he was adopted as the Whig candidate for Buckinghamshire on a compromise with the Tories, but eventually stood down in favour of Richard Hampden,
