LLOYD, Salusbury (d.1734), of Leadbrook, Flints.

Lloyd, christened John, took the name of Salusbury on his marriage, when he acquired an estate carrying a considerable interest in Flint. Having rented another estate in the neighbourhood, he stood for the Boroughs with government support in 1727. Though his opponent secured a large majority, there was a double return, the head bailiff being Lloyd’s tenant and threatened with eviction if he did not return his landlord.CJ, xxi. 175. Awarded the seat by a party vote of the House of Commons in defiance of the evidence, he voted with the Government in all recorded divisions, except on the excise bill, which he opposed. He did not seek re-election, and died 26 Dec. 1734, leaving his property to his son-in-law, Thomas Brereton.
