Returned for Grimsby in 1741, Lock, a wealthy London merchant, voted consistently with the Administration. The 2nd Lord Egmont in his electoral survey c.1749-50, wrote under Grimsby:
Lock is a particular acquaintance of mine and though a broker’s son and particular, yet a man of honour that I can depend upon. A little civility and some kindness in subscriptions, will do a great deal with him. By his means I hope to get the clue to the proper management of this borough.
He died 21 Oct. 1761.
