PARRY, Stephen (1675-1724), of Neuadd Trefawr, Card.

Parry was returned as a Tory on the interest of Lewis Pryse in 1715. Absent from all recorded divisions in this Parliament, he was twice committed to the custody of the serjeant at arms for failing to attend calls of the House. In 1721 his name was sent to the Pretender as a probable supporter in the event of a rising.CJ, xix. 61, 188; Stuart mss 65/16. Nevertheless a list of Members and their relations to whom Sunderland distributed £2,000 about this time contains the entry: ‘à M. Parry et M. Meyrick [Owen], deux Membres du pays de Galles £300.’Sunderland (Blenheim) mss D. II, 4. Again unopposed in 1722, he died 15 Dec. 1724, aged 49.S. Meyrick, Card. 128.
