PEYTO, William (bef.1698-1734), of Chesterton, Warws.

The Peytos had been prominent in Warwickshire since the thirteenth century and had acquired the Chesterton estate by marriage in 1341. Peyto’s soundness as a Tory was vouched for in 1715 by his kinsman, the Jacobite Lord Willoughby de Broke, in the same way as that of Andrew Archer had been by William Bromley.HMC Portland, vii. 211. He voted steadily against the Government. His name was sent to the Pretender in 1721 as a probable supporter in the event of a rising.Stuart mss 65/16. He died 11 Jan. 1734.
