Inheriting Strangeways in 1711, Reynold’s father was granted the office of provost marshal of Barbados in 1715 with reversion to his son, who after contesting Preston unsuccessfully in 1741 was returned for Lancaster in 1745, continuing to sit for it till his death. He voted with the Administration on the Hanoverians, 11 Apr. 1746, writing to Newcastle 25 June: ‘I have taken no step but under your Grace’s favour and protection’.
He died 12 Aug. 1773.
