Wood, a vintner, is first mentioned in the records of Ipswich at Easter 1406. Before 1411 he began a suit for debt in the court of common pleas against a Suffolk parson, but proved unsuccessful in recovering his money. He attested the Ipswich parliamentary returns in 1410, 1417, 1421 (Dec.), 1422, 1423, 1431, 1432, 1433, 1442 and 1447, on seven of these occasions acting as mainpernor for the attendance in the Commons of those elected.
