This Member may well have been the son or nephew of Robert Waryn, who represented Huntingdonshire in six Parliaments during the 14th century, but no evidence of their kinship survives beyond their common name. Indeed, given the paucity of information now available, it is very difficult to speak with any degree of certainty about such an elusive figure. In February 1400, Henry IV rewarded two of his servants, one of whom was called Henry Waryn, with a gift of £20 forfeited from a supporter of the earl of Kent’s rebellion. The same man was subsequently commissioned to arrest Sir Thomas Talbot and bring him before the King, although we cannot tell if he went on to become a shire knight.
