In 1416 Walkeden, in association with John Stourton I, was party to a transaction concerning the manor of ‘Thornton’ in Dorset. He is not known to have held any property in Melcombe, nor to have occupied a local office. It is, indeed, possible that he resided in Somerset; certainly, a William Walkeden attended the elections of the knights of the shire held at Ilchester in 1425 and 1426, having acted in 1424 as a feoffee of the property at Ilchester which John Abbot† junior inherited from Thomas Cole I of Weymouth.
