WAKEFIELD, Thomas, of Leicester

Perhaps a son of William Wakefield, MP for Leicester in 1348, Thomas sat for what was probably the first time in 1384, while holding the office of bailiff. After serving as warden of the local Corpus Christi guild in 1388-9, he was one of those who in 1392 set up a chantry chapel for the fraternity in St. Martin’s church. By January 1390 he had been appointed a county coroner, but was then discharged as being insufficiently qualified. In 1407 and 1411 he was present at the Leicester parliamentary elections.Trans.
