biography text

Unlike the majority of those who represented Huntingdon in Parliament during this period, Garnett appears never to have held office locally. He was however probably a burgess of the town, since a John Garnett, perhaps his son, was living there during the early sixteenth century. John died in 1538, having chosen the Huntingdon parish church of St. Mary as his burial place.1 CCR, 1500-9, no. 806; VCH Hunts. ii. 143n; iii. 182.
