RAVES, William, of Leominster, Herefs.

Members of the Raves family were living in Leominster in the late 14th century, among them a John Raves, who in 1386 resided in West Street.Cott. Domitian A iii. f. 230; CIMisc. iv. 368; C44/13/19. William was described as a barber when, in the spring of 1424, he appeared as a defendant in a plaint of trespass brought in the court of King’s bench. He was among the dozen or so burgesses named in the indentures recording parliamentary elections at Leominster in 1429, 1442, 1447, 1449 and 1450.
