Marchaunt was mentioned as a parishioner of the newly-built church of St. Nicholas next to Rochester cathedral in December 1423. Already one of the wardens of Rochester bridge, he was to retain his post for nearly four years longer. During his final year of office, Alice Marchaunt, presumably a kinswoman of his, made an altar-cloth for the bridge chapel. In February 1427 he and others obtained a royal licence to export grain, perhaps with the intention of shipping it to the garrisons at Calais.
