MARTIN, John (1724-94), of Overbury Court, Worcs.

John Martin was not a partner in the family bank, but ‘appears to have chosen as a profession that of being his father’s heir’.J.B. Martin, ‘The Grasshopper’ in Lombard Street, 89. He was elected for Tewkesbury after a contest, and was classed by Dupplin as a country gentleman supporting the court. His only known vote was against the Address on 13 Nov. 1755. He did not stand in 1761.

He died 28 May 1794.
