GIFFORD, John Hoskins (c.1693-1744), of Beaminster, Dorset, and Boreham, nr. Westbury, Wilts.

Gifford succeeded his brother to the family estates in June 1713, and shortly afterwards was returned for Bridport, presumably as a Tory. He did not serve in Parliament again until 1727, when once more he voted with the Tories. He died in August 1744.
