PELHAM, Hon. Henry (1759-97).

In 1780 and 1784 Pelham successfully contested Lewes on his family interest. He supported North, and though he abstained from voting on Conway’s motion against the war, 27 Feb. 1782,I. R. Christie, End of North’s Ministry, 329. voted against the censure motions of 8 and 15 Mar. 1782. He voted for Shelburne’s peace preliminaries, 18 Feb. 1783; for Fox’s East India bill, 27 Nov. 1783; and against Pitt’s Administration. There is no record of his having spoken in the House before 1790.

He died 16 Jan. 1797.
