Leveson Gower, after seeing service in the West Indies 1793-6, was returned for Truro on the interest of his mother’s brother George, 3rd Viscount Falmouth. In his one Parliament he supported ministers when present;C. Aspinall-Oglander, Admiral’s Widow, 153, 168, 181, 190. He served in Ireland 1798-9 and in Holland afterwards. He was ‘in town for Parliament’ in Jan. 1801. no speech by him is known. He subsequently concentrated on his profession and was second in command to Gen. Whitelock in the unsuccessful expedition to Buenos Aires in 1807.Brougham mss, Brougham to Grey [Nov. 1807]; Add. 37887, f. 57. He died 14 Sept. 1816.
