HUSSEY, Sampson (c.1565-aft.1623), of Edmondsham, Dorset and Bristol.

Hussey, about whose activities little is known, was brother of James Hussey, registrar of Oxford University from 1589-1610, and a relative of Thomas Hussey II.Ibid. 776. The Rogers family must have provided him with his parliamentary seat at Wareham, presumably through a common connexion with the Strodes. Hussey’s first name suggests that Sampson Strode, civil lawyer and fellow of All Souls’ College, Oxford, may have been his godfather. Hussey’s connexion with the Rogers family was confirmed by the marriage of his daughter Deborah to John Rogers of Langton Long in 1603.

The latest reference found to Hussey shows him to have been at Bristol in 1623.Vis. Som. ed. Colby, p. 145.
