CLARKE, Robert (1683-1746), of Snailwell, nr. Newmarket, Cambs.

Clarke was returned unopposed as a Whig at a by-election for Cambridgeshire, then a predominantly Tory county, apparently because no one else could be found to stand. He voted for the Government, was turned out by the Tories in 1722, and did not stand again. He died November 1746.
