INWEN, Thomas (d.1743), of St. Saviour’s, Southwark.

Returned for Southwark at a by-election in 1730 and at the general election of 1734, Inwen, a brewer, voted against the Administration in all recorded divisions. On 10 Mar. 1732 he supported a bill to prevent the importation of hops from America into Ireland.HMC Egmont Diary, i. 234-5. Re-elected in 1741, he was absent from the divisions on the election of the chairman of the elections committee in December 1741 and the Hanoverians in December 1742. He died 19 Apr. 1743, leaving his property in trust to his only daughter, Sarah, who had married Henry Howard, 10th Earl of Suffolk, and appointing Robert Hucks one of his executors.PCC 167 Boycott.
