Marshall was returned for Amersham as a Tory on the interest of the Drake family, to whom he was related,
his faithful discharge of and constant attendance to the duties of that high office, his steady attachment to the true interest of this corporation, for his frequent calling us together in common council, and his readiness on all occasions to promote the welfare of his fellow citizens.

In 1747 he was classed as Opposition. He died 2 Feb. 1754.
