Seckford was a servant of his relative, Sir Henry Sidney, whom he accompanied to Ireland, and it was as ‘receiver and servant to Sir Henry Sidney’ that he presented the household accounts of the council in the marches. Seckford was thus well-placed to be returned to the 1572 Parliament for Bridgnorth. He was licensed to depart 24 May 1572. His death must have occurred before 13 Feb. 1579, when a by-election was held to replace him.
