OLDSWORTH, Arnold (b.c.1561), of St. Martin’s Lane, London and Bradley in Wotton, Glos.

Oldsworth was a London lawyer. He was a shareholder in the Mines Royal, and in 1585 petitioned, with what success does not appear, to be made steward of the stannary court of Blackmore. About a year after Elizabeth’s death, his first son, Edward, was granted the reversion of his office of clerk of the hanaper. In 1604 he acted as executor of the will of Anne, Countess of Warwick, daughter of the 2nd Earl of Bedford. This suggests that he may have been the Mr. Oldsworth mentioned as in her service from about 1595. This goes some way to explaining his return at Tregony even as late as 1593.
