POOLE (POWLE), Thomas II.

Described as ‘junior’ in the return, this Member was possibly the son of the Thomas Poole who sat for Cirencester in 1571 and 1572, though there is no one in the pedigrees with whom he can be identified.J. R. Dunlop, Fam. of Poole, 1-11. The only reference to the Member in Parliament is his request for privilege to be extended to one of his servants who had been arrested upon a capias utlagatum. It transpired that the man had entered Poole’s service since the beginning of the Parliament expressly to escape imprisonment for debt, and ‘it was also suspected that Mr. Poole himself entertained the man but for that purpose’, privilege having been solicited on two previous occasions for his servants.
